WWRM

This call seeks abstracts for presentation options including live oral presentations, in-person poster presentations, and pre-recorded virtual oral presentations (to be viewed by attendees on-demand). REWI will craft the agenda for the WWRM from both this Call for Abstracts and the prior Call for Proposals.

This call is seeking abstracts for:

• Live Oral Presentation: These presentations will be assigned to a session, based on a topic of interest, during the general meeting on October 28-29. The presenting author will be given ~10-12 minutes to present (depending on the number of speakers within the session); questions will be held until the end of the session. As a reminder, due to space limitations for live oral presentations, some submitters who prefer to give a live oral presentation may instead be scheduled to give a poster presentation or an on-demand presentation. This decision will be communicated to all submitters upon abstract acceptance.
• In-Person Poster Presentation: Each poster presentation will be on display physically and on the virtual meeting platform during the full meeting, with a dedicated in-person session for poster viewing included on the agenda. Presenting authors will be expected to be present during the Poster & Networking Reception on the evening of October 28 to field questions and engage in conversations about their research with colleagues one-on-one, unless other arrangements have been made (see “Note on Travel Conflicts”). Virtual attendees will be able to view posters and ask questions through the virtual meeting platform.
• On-Demand Oral Presentation: This option is available for speakers who are unable to attend in person but would still like an opportunity to present their research to a broad audience. These presentations will be pre-recorded and may be up to 20 minutes long. The presentation will be shared with meeting attendees via the virtual meeting platform; audience Q&A will be asynchronous and will occur through the meeting platform. NOTE: In-person attendance is NOT required for this option, but the presenting author will be expected to register for either the in-person or virtual meeting option.

Submission Deadline: Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 pm US Mountain Daylight Time on May 29, 2026

Presentation Opportunities: This meeting will offer multiple presentation formats. Submitters will indicate their preferred presentation format at the time of submission. All accepted abstracts from submitters who prefer a poster will be scheduled as a poster. Likewise, all accepted abstracts that prefer a prerecorded on-demand virtual presentation will be offered that preference. Due to space limitations for live oral presentations, some submitters who prefer to give a live oral presentation may instead be asked to give a poster presentation. This decision will be communicated to all submitters at the time of abstract acceptance.

Presenting authors submitting abstracts for live oral and in-person poster presentations will be expected to register and be available to present on October 28 or October 29.

Note on Travel Conflicts: While in-person participation in live oral presentations is preferred, REWI understands that circumstances may impact the ability of many of our valued collaborators to attend in person. REWI is committed to working with speakers to provide alternative presentation and attendance options within accepted sessions.  

Timeline

Late Abstracts: Consideration of submissions received after the deadline cannot be guaranteed. Please contact wwrm@rewi.org with inquiries regarding late submissions.

Abstract Review and Selection Process: Acceptance of submissions is not guaranteed. Peer reviewers will rate abstracts using the abstract guidelines included in this call. The ratings and comments provided by peer reviewers will inform REWI staff’s acceptance decisions. REWI will send an email to every submitter notifying them of the decision by late July 2025. Presenting authors for accepted abstracts must confirm their intent to present within 2 weeks of acceptance decision emails.

Approximate Timeline for Review and Selection Process:

• May 29, 2026: Abstracts due
• July 21, 2025: Submitters notified of abstract selection or rejection
• July 30, 2025: Deadline to confirm speaker position and edit abstracts
