Blattner Energy Becomes First Ally of the Wind Wildlife Research Fund

The Wind Wildlife Research Fund welcomes Blattner Energy as the first Ally of the Fund.

Founded in 1907 as D.H. Blattner & Co. Railway Contractors, Blattner moved into the renewable energy construction industry in the late 1990s. Blattner Energy expanded to include solar power services in 2009, and by 2013 they had built more than 20,000 megawatts of wind energy. Blattner now focuses entirely on wind energy, solar energy, energy storage, and power delivery, providing industry-leading full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services to owners and developers of renewable energy across the United States.

In November 2020, Blattner became the first Ally of the Wind Wildlife Research Fund, an industry-led initiative that pools resources to advance collaborative, priority research to produce scientifically robust solutions that enable the continued expansion of wind energy while advancing wildlife conservation. The Fund is managed by the American Wind Wildlife Institute (AWWI), an independent 501(c)3 organization. All Fund projects align with AWWI’s National Wind Wildlife Research Plan guidelines. Fund results are expert- or peer-reviewed and published online. In 2019, the Fund launched its first seven research projects, and results from three of these studies are now available with new technical reports and publications set for release in early 2021. Read more about Fund results.

The Fund is a partnership of 31 Partners & Friends that help set research priorities and support individual research projects that expedite innovative wind-wildlife solutions. Beginning in 2020, companies that are directly involved in the wind industry, companies that serve the wind industry, and non-governmental organizations can support the Fund as Allies, who do not invest in specific projects but support the Fund and are critical to sustaining the Fund’s efforts.

Blattner Energy, and all Fund members, are making it possible to advance this critical effort. Support from Partners, Friends, and Allies ensures a robust and timely research program that is removing obstacles for expansion of fully sustainable wind energy.
