Presented by REWI & NREL, this first webinar of the two-part series covered Hoary Bat behavior, ecology, movement, and migration.

Moderator: Laura Dempsey, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)

Speakers:

  1. CJ Campbell, Bat Conservation International (BCI): Movement & Migration
  2. Jeff Clerc, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL): Behavior

This webinar was made possible thanks to financial support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO).

About the Speakers

Jeff Clerc is a research biologist supporting NREL’s wind and wildlife portfolio. Jeff has expertise in bat migration ecology, and his research focuses on the behavior and physiology of migratory organisms. His past work emphasizes the importance of filling natural history gaps, developing novel methodologies, and using theoretical and empirical approaches to understand wind-wildlife interactions.

CJ Campbell is a quantitative ecologist at Bat Conservation International. Her research centers on migration and spatial ecology, integrating tools from chemical ecology, movement biology, and biodiversity informatics. She is passionate about developing quantitative techniques that fill key knowledge gaps to address key conservation needs, particularly in the sphere of wind-wildlife interactions.
