AWWI Welcomes Heather Zichal, CEO of ACP, to Board of Directors

AWWI is excited to welcome Heather Zichal, CEO of the American Clean Power Association (ACP), to the Board of Directors.

On January 1, 2021, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) merged into ACP, and Heather joined as ACP’s first ever CEO. Before joining ACP, Heather served as the Executive Director of the Blue Prosperity Coalition, a global network of governments, NGOs, scientists, and ocean experts working to advance sustainable blue economy goals. Additional previous roles include Vice President of Corporate Engagement for AWWI Partner The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and Deputy Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change during the Obama Administration. Learn more about Heather here.

Heather was elected to AWWI’s Board in early February as an advisory member, a seat previously held by AWEA.

“I am honored to join the Board of the American Wind Wildlife Institute,” said Heather. “America’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable electric system will play a vital role in protecting our nation’s species and their habitats from the immense threats of climate change. As the clean energy transition continues, AWWI is on the forefront of ensuring that advances in carbon-free wind and other renewable energy sources are guided by the best science and in partnership with America’s leading wildlife advocates, helping us all work together to protect wildlife now and into the future.”

“We warmly welcome Heather and the broad coalition ACP represents who are committed to meeting our nation’s climate and conservation goals,” said Abby Arnold, AWWI Executive Director.
