Solar Wildlife & Ecosystems Research Meeting

REWI’s goal is for all involved in the 3^rd Solar Wildlife & Ecosystems Research Meeting (SWERM) is to benefit from the spirit of respectful collaboration that REWI strives to incorporate into all activities. In support of this goal, REWI presents the following guidelines for respectful, professional, and safe behavior at the 3^rd SWERM. All SWERM participants – including but not limited to in-person and virtual attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors – are expected to abide by these guidelines at all events associated with the SWERM (including off-site fieldtrips) as well as in online spaces associated with the event (including digital event platforms and other online discussions relating to the events, such as social media).

Code of Conduct

All participants will:

• Treat each other with dignity and respect, including respecting diversity of opinions and experiences.
• Critique ideas, not individuals, and assume positive intent.
• Follow the rules and policies of the event venue, REWI event partners, and relevant online platforms.

Notify REWI staff of any dangerous situations or unacceptable behaviors by emailing solar@rewi.org or alerting a member of the REWI team directly. Please note the solar email is not monitored 24/7 and should not be used in the event of an emergency.  

REWI and REWI’s authorized representatives reserve the right to remove access to the SWERM from a registrant not abiding by the code of conduct without warning or refund.

Content Sharing Guidelines

REWI encourages SWERM attendees to share their experiences with their networks. In support of this goal, and aligned with the Code of Conduct, REWI presents the following guidelines for sharing meeting-related media and content:

• When summarizing the meeting for others, separate your impressions or interpretations from the information being shared.
• Refrain from taking or sharing photographs or recordings of oral presentations and posters without explicit permission from the presenting author.
• Do not quote or cite a presentation or poster without explicit permission from the presenting author, due to the preliminary nature of some of the information shared at the meeting.

Members of the press should identify their affiliation and engage transparently, and are expected to follow code of conduct and content sharing guidelines.

REWI intends to publish formal meeting proceedings, as it does for every SWERM, which will serve as the citable, publicly available resource summarizing the information shared at the event.

Photo/Video Policy

By participating in or attending the SWERM, you acknowledge that REWI may take photos, video recordings, and/or audio recordings of you while at the SWERM. These photos and/or recordings of you, your image, or likeness, are for REWI use and may appear on the REWI website, newsletters, social media platforms, or future REWI promotional material. REWI may also share photos and/or recordings with news organizations for publication online, in print, or broadcast. By participating in or attending the SWERM you consent to the use of your image, likeness and/or voice in all such material without compensation and in perpetuity.
