REWI Shares Updated State-of-the-Science on Land-Based Wind & Wildlife

Updated resources reflect current understanding of interactions between land-based wind power and wildlife.

Published today, October 14, 2025, Wind Energy Interactions with Wildlife: Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Based on the State of the Science  summarizes publicly available information about how land-based wind power interacts with wildlife and the status of approaches to mitigate adverse impacts, with a focus on North America. This summary builds off previous editions in a new, question-and-answer format to clearly communicate current understanding of the key questions facing wind energy and wildlife.

“We at REWI are dedicated to compiling and communicating the best available scientific facts around renewable energy, wildlife, and ecosystems. New science and technological advancements mean our understanding of interactions between wildlife and the built environment is constantly improving. The Wind Energy Interactions with Wildlife report is an up-to-the-moment picture of the interactions available today, and is intended to inform all those who care about wind energy and wildlife.”
